OCEANWORKS FOUNDATION PROJECTS
A GLOBAL COLLECTION EFFORT
Our collection projects span the globe, with operations on the ground in North America, Africa, and Asia. Each is focused on solving unique problems facing their region, and in all cases Oceanworks Foundation funds are directed to make reclamation activities viable.
FEATURED PROJECT
OCEANBOUND MISMANAGED WASTE
Seeking to strengthen Mumbai’s recycling ecosystem in a just and equitable manner, this project focuses on efficient logistics, provision of finance for working capital, upliftment, education, and on-the-ground action. The funds provided go toward incentivizing the collection of low-value oceanbound plastic that is otherwise too expensive to return to the circular economy and operates primarily in slums of Mumbai.
FEATURED PROJECT
RIVERWAY CLEANUP
With operations in Ghana, Kenya, India, & Indonesia, this globally social enterprise implements catchment and sorting systems to recover waterway plastic waste. This material is then sorted locally and high-quality plastics are recycled. Without funding from organizations like Oceanworks Foundation, this project is unable to continue these collection activities.
FEATURED PROJECT
FISHING NET RECLAMATION
We have partnered with a North American, woman-owned social enterprise that has a proven track record of successful fishing net take back programs focused in some of the largest fishing industries on the continent. This project incentivizes the proper disposal of fishing gear and helps to return it to the circular economy where possible.
